The Substance abuse program is an Intensive Out-Patient program. The participants of the substance abuse program will be placed in either the high intensity or the time limited group.
The high intensity group will be 10 clean weeks. The juveniles will participate in 2 group sessions a week. In addition to the group sessions there will be 1 individual counseling session and 1 family therapy session a week.
The time limited group will be an 8 week drug education group. The group will be open to juveniles with identified substance use issues. The youth will participate in 1 group session a week. In addition to the group sessions there will be 1 individual and 1 family therapy session a week.
The groups are based on a Cognitive-Behavioral and Bio-psychosocial disease/primary problem model that targets adolescents who meet the criteria for substance dependence as determined by the DSM IV-TR, the SASSI, and the results of a comprehensive interview process.
All clinicians and counselors utilize a standardized curriculum consistent with the science of modern counseling. Treatment modalities include individual, therapy, group therapy, substance abuse education, 12-step self-help group, leisure group, parent education and family therapy sessions.
